Reuse and Repurpose

Today we visited a school that is shutting down and liquidating all equipment and supplies.  Sissy and the twins had a wonderful time looking through the classrooms searching for treasure.  The lady who runs the facility is my mother’s neighbor, so she was particularly kind to my kids.  She handpicked a stuffed animal for each of them, and offered us a wonderful deal on the items we wanted.  In the end we ended up with lots of books and puzzles, two sets of shelves, tables, chairs, and some organizational tools.

Once we got home, we started the process of cleaning up our treasures.  Sissy worked very hard scrubbing things off, and had a wonderful time with the garden hose.

By the time the twins woke up from their nap, they had a new table and chairs and plenty of new books to read.

We live very frugally, and I believe it is important to teach our children to reuse and repurpose.  I can’t wait to see what we will fashion from some of the more special items that we found today.

More to come…

Happy summer!
